You should be able to connect using VNC.
I'd do:
virsh list --all
which would give me a list of the names of the virtual servers.

I've found out how to do this, it was obvious :(
"14.7.6. Display an MOTD
You can set Likewise to display a message of the day. It appears after a user logs on but before the logon script...
Thanks for posting this.
I'm not using Hyper-V anymore, I was just testing it out for work (we decided not to go for it), but it's great to have this here for reference anyway just in case.

Hi,
I've installed likewise-open and can now login to some Ubuntu 10.04 servers, authenticating against a Microsoft Active Directory server.
I use landscape-common which gives me a nice motd...
This is sorted out now, it seems that the different version of Spine does work fine with Cacti, so it's all good.
Thanks.
I have asked this in launchpad too.

Thanks for any help!
Hi,
I want to use Cacti 0.8.7g on Ubuntu 10.10.
It looks like the version of Spine is 0.8.7e instead of "g" to match.
cacti 0.8.7g-1
cacti-spine 0.8.7e-2build1
When I did a test upgrade,...
I just installed Ubuntu Server 10.04 under Hyper-V Server and it worked fine, I had to use the legacy network adapter though.
Networking is working properly.
I also understand that you can...
If you are on a 60 day trial, then you've probably downloaded something better/different to the normal basic vSphere client.
You can download the free version by visiting...
VMware say that paravirtualisation is "no longer required" for 64 bit.
I think they are talking about the whole operating system being paravirtualised, not just drivers for disk, networking etc.

I'm not sure Xen will work out for you, Ubuntu have basically dropped it for KVM instead. KVM the way I use it is more of a server solution. I use VNC to access the actual screen, so that might not...
You mentioned that there's no limit for memory on 32 bit Ubuntu.
If you are using a 32 bit kernel, Support for large amounts of memory (above 4 GB) will come from PAE being enabled in the kernel....
I've also looked in to this before, as I have to run Ubuntu under VMware at work. I'd recommend reading this: http://blogs.vmware.com/guestosguide/2009/09/vmi-retirement.html

I've just upgraded to 10.04 on quite a few JeOS virtual machines (from 9.10).
My personal ones were installed using the vmbuilder script (about 4 of them).
The ones I use at work were installed...
Hi,
So it sounds like you have Ubuntu (the desktop version) and want to run some Windows applications? Xen isn't included in Ubuntu anymore (the major distributions are moving to KVM instead), but...
More updates...
There is no longer any need to compile the modules for Ubuntu 9.10, as these are included as binaries in the vmware tools.

I have an update. I got the "VMware Paravirtual (pvscsi)" SCSI adapter and the "VMXNET 3" network card working in JeOS now.
The method was as follows:

Thanks.
The checkbox/tickbox you ticked in the virtual machine settings is called "VMI", I think. That's being phased out and apparently was only available (or necessary) for 32 bit Operating...
Thanks for the quick reply. I think I am confused over the terminology.
When I talk about paravirtualisation, I'm thinking about the special drivers for network and disk performance. It looks like...
Actually, perhaps my question should be, "is paravirtualisation supported using a 64 bit Operating System with ESXi?".
One of the VMware kb articles says that "Paravirtualization is not supported...
Hi,
I'm trying to install a JeOS Ubuntu 9.10 64 bit virtual machine.
The hypervisor is ESXi 4 (not ESX) and I'm loading the Ubuntu server 9.10 CD as normal, then selecting the JeOS virtual...
It could be lots of things.
I recommend opening up two SSH sessions and leaving then running top and just waiting for it to happen, so you can see what was happening at the time.
Also, each of...
Hi,
On my Ubuntu 9.04, I have /sbin/syslogd running.
On my Ubuntu 9.10, I have /usr/sbin/rsyslogd running.
I guess the default has changed?
I also notice that I can configure logging in...
Thought so, thanks for confirming.
I've only ever added keys manually. I guess ssh-add automates the process, but what did you mean about adding it to RAM?
If you have a second to give more...
