Since updating to 14.04. When selecting either Restart or Shutdown from the Unity system menu I get a box that only has a logoff option in it.
If I hit the power button the same useless box pops...

Been looking for a way to make voices sound more robotic myself.
Those scripts are nice but the problem is they all have those weird accents, they sound like a combination of mentally handicapped,...
Reinstalled, still flashing test colors :(
Clean install. I'll try a reinstall just incase I messed something up.
Emgd110 isn't working for me on my Asus EeePC T91MT.
It enters some kind of LCD testing mode.
It cycles over some test colors and gradients. I can switch back to a virtual terminal with alt+f1...
After posting that stuff before I discovered that you do need 'xhost local:' in a startup script in addition to the other hacks. Didn't remember to update the wiki.
I don't think evtest sorts out the fingers.
Try installing mtdev-tools.
There is 'gesturetest 0 0 0xffffffff'. Which should let you detect pinch's and such.
Also 'sudo mtdev-test...

Your kind of hyping that canned response, don't go expecting much from any Intel reps on this issue.
Lets do some translation on it.

I'm wondering how hard it actually would be to build an open source driver from scratch.
We could base it around a Gallium3D framework. As such we would get wayland support (and cross platform)....
The e4/e5 error messages are to be expected, I get them and it works fine.
Try adding
date >> /tmp/rotate.log to the top of /etc/acpi/rotatescreen.sh (just under the comment block).

I posted instructions on the eeeuser wiki on fixing the rotate button scripts under Maverik (original fix from ian57).
Posting this from my T91MT, so it does work.

Also can you choose the 'try...
You need root level access. Try typing 'gksudo gedit /thepath/thefiletoedit'
Seems I'm also getting that error on my T91MT :(
Major hassle since I use rotation quite a bit for reading comics/manga. Guess I'm stuck on Lucid a while longer...
I do get the same error when...
Apparently adding 'xhost :local' to a login script or something similar ('xhost localhost' what what I used to use ages ago for something similar) can help fix the screen rotation. Also I think you...
I have no major issues with video on 10.04 providing I use the vaapi version of mplayer. It is a bit of a pain to setup initially but there is a script. I couldn't get 10.10 to playback the same way...
The chasedouglas ppa was for Lucid. Maverick uses a .deb file from the other thread linked in the first post or better yet the PPA above.
That PPA seems to be working well for me, although it took...
1. Make sure you add the options "acpi_backlight=vendor acpi_osi=Linux" options to /etc/default/grub in the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT variable and do a 'update-grub'
2. No multitouch support yet....
There is a guide here:

And another one here:

You won't get multitouch though,...
See the guide here:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1507489
You will only get single touch at this stage.
I get that "Unknown key" error message too, but the script is still firing. Just stick a 'date >> /tmp/rotate.log' at the end or something and it will show you it's firing. I did try the XAUTHORITY...
I've also run into problems getting the screen rotation to work.
It's not the missing /var/lib/acpi-support/screen-rotation as it isn't supposed to exist first run. It's a file that keeps the...
